Safe Walking Tips

Walking to school can be lots of fun, especially if you walk with friends, but it’s important you walk safely. Follow Pom-Bear's advice for walking to school and you'll have fun whilst being safe every day!

  • Safe walking tipsLearn the Green Cross Code and put this into practice every time you’re out walking. You should not walk to school alone until you are confident practising the code
  • Where possible, walk on pavements, keeping well away from the curb, with an adult on the outside between you and the traffic
  • Make sure you can be seen at all times by using reflective and high visibility clothing. This is especially important at night and as the mornings and early evenings become darker during winter
  • Hold an adult’s hands firmly at all times
  • Pay attention when walking and never listen to personal stereo systems, use mobile phones or hand-held games
